The Mekong Delta is where the mighty Mekong River completes its 2,700 mile (4,300 km) journey from the Tibetan plateau and empties its riches into the South China Sea. This is an area of lush, tropical and fertile lands. It is often referred to as the 'rice bowl' of Vietnam due its huge production of rice crop. Vegetables, exotic fruits (coconuts, mangoes, rambutan) and fishing also feature prominently here.

With only 4 days you will visit the most typical places of Mekong Delta with the floating markets, Mangrove forest, Khmer Pagodas and the most special is Ca mau Cape, the southernmost location of Vietnam mainland. Enjoy your beautiful days with green, peaceful nature and friendly people.

Available Itinerary

Day 1: Saigon – Cai Be – Can Tho

This morning depart for 2.5 hour drive to Cai Be located in Tien Giang province. Upon arrival, boarding a luxury wooden boat to visit the colorful Cai Be floating market, where you can witness all of trading activities of local traders with several kinds of agricultural product from one boat to another.
Then, continue the cruise to a local factory to visit and learn how pop rice, pop corn, rice paper and coconut candies are made. You also have an opportunity to taste these products served with hot green tea.
Returning to the boat to take a 50 minute excursion to Dong Hoa Hiep Island and discover the beautiful and peaceful sceneries together with the typical life of the region along the Mekong River.
Stops and visits can be made during the excursion.
A 10 minute walk through a local village and fruit gardens, you will be able to stop to visit the local family scaled Longan process factory, where you have another opportunity to take photo of and interact with several friendly and hardworking local people before coming to an old Mandarin house, built hundred years ago and it is where at least four generations of this family have been living.

After lunch, boarding the wooden boat back to the wharf and transferred to Can Tho.
Check-in your hotel before enjoy your dinner at a local restaurant.
After dinner, you are free to explore Can Tho at night on your own.

Day 2: Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market – Ca Mau

In the early morning, you will be transferred to the Ninh Kieu wharf to take a boat to visit colorful Cai Rang Market.
 
During the early morning market hours, larger sized boats anchor and create lanes that smaller boats weave in and out of. The waterway becomes a maze of hundreds of boats packed with mango, bananas, papaya, pineapple, and even smuggled goods like cigarettes.
 
After the visit, back to your hotel and enjoy the breakfast before heading to Ca Mau. (4.5 hours)

Lunch is served at a local restaurant en-route.
 
Upon arrival in Ca Mau, check-in your hotel and take a rest or explore the city on your own.

Day 3: Ca Mau – Nam Can – Dat Mui

Breakfast with local foods
 
This morning, you will be transferred to Nam Can town, the southernmost town of Viet Nam.
 
Take a canoe to explore Khu Can Cu Rung Duoc (Mangrove Forest Base).  The natural scenery full of mangrove forests of birds, wild animals, and fishes gives Ca Mau a very distinctive beauty.

Continue to Ca Mau cape, the southernmost location with the last milestone of Vietnam mainland.  After having photos taken, standing by milestone 0 you can contemplate the forest and sea swelling in the distance and feel the heat mixed with the salty air.
 
Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant.
 
In the afternoon, you are free for shopping with the local specialties and seafood.
 
Transfer back to the city center.
 
Dinner today is on your own.

Day 4: Ca Mau – Bac Lieu – Soc Trang – Saigon

After breakfast, leave Ca Mau for Bac Lieu.  Stop to see the villa of Cong tu Bac Lieua legendary rich playboy who lived in the early 1900s, famous for his wealth and lavish spending, once burned money to boil bean.
 
Lunch is arranged at a local restaurant.
 
In the afternoon, continue to Soc Trang and visit the most famous pagoda in Soc Trang, Dơi pagoda or Bat Pagoda. This is where thousands of bats used to stay, hanging their body under the pagoda’s roofs or threes. Unfortunately, in 2010, a fire destroyed most of the furniture.
 
 
Clay Pagoda
Then, visit Clay Pagoda, which is famous for its clay Buddhist statues and dragon sculptures. There are also 6 giant candles here, which can keep burning for 60 years.
 
After the tour, transfer back to your hotel in Saigon. Dinner en-route on your own.
