Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

Arrive in Hanoi. Upon arrival, when you leave the airport terminal please look for 4U Tours guide displaying a welcome signboard with your name on it. Transfer to your hotel for check-in.
 
Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital and the second largest city, is a fascinating blend which combines traditional Sino-Vietnamese motifs with French flair, of the East and West. The fact that it was largely unscathed in the decades of war and is now going through a building boom makes it a rapidly developing city in Southeast Asia.
 
Then we will drive to Ho Chi Minh Complex with visit to One Pillar Pagoda, a historic Buddhist temple.
 
The next stop will be Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university and the very first stop-over of any foreign tourist in Hanoi. It reveals the Hanoians’ spirit of studying in the past. It is also a famous historical and cultural relic nowadays.
 
After this visit, drive to visit Hoa Lo Prison, also known as Maison Centrale, was French built for housing Vietnamese political campaigners for independence and was completed in 1913. 
 
Then take a look at The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, the cultural complex comprising the royal enclosure first built during the Lý Dynasty.
 
Dinner is on your own for your exploration of street foods under your guide’s recommendation.

Day 2: Hanoi Half Day Sightseeing

Breakfast is at your hotel.
 
The morning is free at leisure and lunch is on your own.
 
In the afternoon, you will visit the serene Museum of Ethnology, a 20 minute drive out of town that offers a fascinating insight into Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minority groups (Museum of Ethnology is closed on Mondays).
 
Then take cycle ride in Old Quarter and explore the beauty of 36 old streets of Hanoi.
 
Dinner is on your own.
 
8:45PM                  Transfer to the railways station to take the night train to Lao Cai. Spend the night on board where you may purchase food and other essentials although it may be advised to bring your own.

Day 3: Lao Cai – Sapa – Touch to Local Hill Tribes

Arrive in Lao Cai in early morning. You will be transferred to Sapa for breakfast then check in at Victoria Sapa Resort.
 
After that, take a tour to Ta Van – Lao Chai Villages to experience traditional daily life of the Black H’mong people. Have lunch prepared by your guide in a local house before trekking through the bamboo forest to Giang Ta Chai, where you will have the opportunity to meet with the Red Dao minority people.
 
Your car will wait in Giang Ta Chai and take you back to Sapa. The rest of the day is your free time to wander around Sapa Market or the surroundings.
 
Dinner is on your own.
 
Sapa is a frontier town in Northwest Vietnam, 350 km Northwest of Hanoi, close to the border with China. The Hoang Lien Son range dominates the landscape, which is actually the far eastern edge of the Himalayas. Sapa is famed for its terraced fields, diverse mix of hill tribes and magnificent landscape. With an annual average temperature at slightly over 15°C, Sapa is such a remarkably cool place that it is advised to bring warm clothes as nights can be chilly in this part of Vietnam. The area is also home to a large number of ethnic hill tribes.
 
Note: Sapa is becoming more and more popular with tourists. Many local people have limited income, therefore selling souvenir items can often be seen as another way to earn money. Expect hill tribe vendors to follow you and to be persistent in persuading you to buy their handicrafts. If you’re not interested, simple say ‘no’ and ask your guide to walk you away.

Day 4: Sapa – Night Train to Hanoi

Winding through hilly terrain and terraced paddy fields, the road out of Sapa leads to Cat Cat Village, only 2 km from the town. A leisure 3km walk through the old village offers an overview of the traditional customs and practices of the Black H’mong ethnic. Stop by a stunning waterfall and the vestige of a hydroelectric power station constructed by the French during the colonial era. Follow a dirt trail sneaking through the mountains along a narrow river and enjoy the spectacular scenery.
 
Lunch is on your own. In the afternoon, drive to Cau May then to the Stone Park where there are many amazing sharps and strange carvings.
 
Check-out your hotel and transfer back to Lao Cai Station. Dinner will be on your own.
 
Embark overnight train back to Hanoi

Day 5: Hanoi – Saigon – Cu Chi Tunnels

Arrival Hanoi in early morning then transfer to the lakeside restaurant for a local breakfast. See morning activities of Hanoians while dining.
 
Transfer to airport for your flight to Saigon.
 
Hanoi / Saigon via VN 233 @ 9:30 AM / 11:30 AM
 
Upon arrival Saigon, depart for Cu Chi Tunnels, located about 25 miles from Ho Chi Minh City in an area that was controlled by the Vietcong through its now legendary system of tunnels. The underground network provided sleeping quarters, meeting rooms, hospitals, and other social rooms.
 
You will be introduced with some tunnels entrances, kinds of traps and their usage in war, “Hoang Cam” kitchen invention, rice cake making show & enjoy typical local food “khoai mi” with pandan leaf tea.
 
You also have chance to shoot with real gun and bullet (on own).
 
Return to Saigon and lunch is on your own.
 
Rest of the day will be at leisure for your own exploration.

Day 6: Enthusiastic Homestay in Mekong Delta

The program will start with a cruising from Cai Be to a colorful floating market. Enjoy cruising among local barges full of fruits and vegetables by the luxury boat of Mekong Travel.
 
Then visit the handicraft village where you can see how they make some special products: making rice-net for spring-rolls, fish sauce & Soya sauce, cooking salt, sewing coconut-leaves for cottage roof.
 
The best lunch will be served at local house.
 
After lunch, the rowing boat will take you deeper into the countryside on smaller canals to enjoy the peaceful time and have some fruits and tea.
 
One more thing to do in this trip is biking and fishing! It will be so amazing to bike on village paths to see the local farms, houses, real life and the ancestral ways to pick up fruits in Mekong Delta then come to homestay for real fishing.
 
Cook some dishes with the owner and enjoy diner and have cup of tea or rice wine when talking together.
 
Overnight in a private room of Ut Trinh Homestay.
 
Ut Trinh Homestay is local house with typical Mekong architecture located directly on a river bank, surrounded by gardens, bonsai trees and a variety of tropical fruit orchards. Day 7: Mekong Delta – Saigon

Have a breakfast and walk along the village to enjoy the fresh air in the morning.
 
Take a boat trip to visit the brick kilns where you can see how the local people create beautiful potteries from clay.
 
Our boat will 
go along the floating village. We will learn how to farm catfish on Mekong River. We can visit Vinh Long market in the town; this is the best choice for you to take pictures of fish, shrimps, prawns, crabs, snakes, rice-field rats, tropical fruits, vegetables...
The tour ends at the main market on land.
 
Drive back to Saigon with lunch en-route at local restaurant.
 
Arrival Saigon and rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 8: Saigon – Phnom Penh– Siem Reap

Take morning flight to Phnom Penh via VN 3851 @ 8:45AM / 9:30AM
 
Arrival in Phnom Penh, transfer to city center and take an orientation tour to see Tuol Sleng S21, which serves as a testament to the crimes of the Khmer Rough.
 
Lunch is on your own.
 
Then visit the Killing Fields, a number of sites in Cambodia where large numbers of people were killed and buried by the communist Khmer Rouge regime, during its rule of the country from 1975 to 1979, immediately after the end of the Cambodian Civil War.
 
Transfer to airport for your flight to Sieam Reap via K6117 @ 6:50 PM / 7:35 PM.
 
Arrival Siem Reap and check-in your hotel.

Day 9: Visit Angkor Thom, Bayon and Angkor Wat

Transfer to visit Angkor Thom, the extensive temple complex of soaring towers, elaborate carved murals, colonnades and courtyards that ushered in the classic age of Khmer art architecture.
 
Then visit Bayon Temple, located in the center, this temple rises on three levels with galleries containing bas reliefs depicting daily life and historical Khmer battles won and lost.
 
Lunch is on your own.
 
Afternoon, visit the Ankgor Wat. Many people incorrectly believe that Angkor was a single temple. This is perhaps because Angkor Wat itself is the grandest and best known of the hundreds of Khmer temples scattered across the plains of north-western Cambodia. The Angkor period began in the 8th Century with the construction of the Wat Phou temple complex in southern Laos, and continued for well over 500 years until the fall of the mighty empire in 1431.
 
End the day with an elephant ride to see the sunset on Phnom Bakheng Mountain or take a balloon to see the overview of Angkor Complex.

Day 10: Banteay Srei and Ta Prohm

Morning visit Banteay Srei with Banteay Samre, beautiful rose-pink temple and worth the extra effort to experience the elaborate architecture, and fine carvings.
 
Lunch is on your own.
 
Then take a visit to Ta Prohm Temple, where the famous film Tomb Raider was shot and brought the Angkor Wonders to the world.
 
Rest of the day will be at leisure for your own exploration.
 
Dinner is on your own.

Day 11: Siem Reap – Luang Prabang

Have breakfast at hotel then take boat trip to visit the local floating villages in Tonle Sap Lake, a combined lake and river system of major importance to Cambodia. The Tonlé Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and is an ecological hot spot that was designated as a UNESCO biosphere in 1997.

Arrive at Luang Prabang and enjoy leisure time and dinner on own.

Day 12: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves (Boat)

Your morning will start early at 6:00AM when you join local people in the daily Alms Giving Ceremony. This is a traditional activity that people are waiting alongside the roads and giving offerings to the monks when they do their morning meditation.
 
Return to your hotel for breakfast.
 
After breakfast, enjoy a short-guided tour seeing the city’s oldest temple Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, representing classical Laotian architecture.
 
Visit UXO Laos Visitors Center Luang Prabang. After then, drive up to the area across from Pak Ou Caves, take boat across the visit the caves, then take boat downstream back to Luang Prabang.
 
The tour ends after a visit to the famous Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.

Day 13: Luang Prabang – Tad Sea Waterfall

Breakfast at hotel
 
In the morning, enjoy “Flight to the nature” zip-line and the waterfalls at Tad Sea Waterfall on the Khan River.
 
Return to Luang Prabang and lunch is on your own.
 
In the afternoon, take a cooking class at Tamarind Village (no guide necessary this day - just booking these activities is fine)

Day 14: Luang Prabang – Hanoi
