Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

Upon arrival, when you leave the airport terminal please look for 4U Tours guide displaying a welcome signboard with your name on it. Transfer to your hotel.
 
Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital and the second largest city, is a fascinating blend which combines traditional Sino-Vietnamese motifs with French flair, of the East and West. The fact that it was largely unscathed in the decades of war and is now going through a building boom makes it a rapidly developing city in Southeast Asia.
 
Dinner is served at Ly Club Restaurant. Set in a French colonial building which was the former residence of the Governor of Indochina in the 19th century, Ly Club is an elegant setting for enjoying delightful Vietnamese cuisine and live traditional Northern folk opera music performance.

Day 2: Hanoi Full Day Sightseeing

After breakfast, start to explore Vietnam’s Capital – Hanoi.
 
This morning, we will drive to Ho Chi Minh’s Complex to visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, Ba Dinh Square, Ho Chi Minh’s House-on-Stilts and One Pillar Pagoda.
 
The next stop will be Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university and the very first stop-over of any foreign tourist in Hanoi. It reveals the Hanoians’ spirit of studying in the past. It is also a famous historical and cultural relic nowadays.
 
Lunch is served at Wild Lotus Restaurant. With comfort and relaxation in mind, the designers had done a wonderful job using colors and shapes to create a colonial environment in which one can immediately feel at home while enjoying genuine Vietnamese dishes. 
After lunch, you will visit the serene Museum of Ethnology, a 20 minute drive out of town that offers a fascinating insight into Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minority groups (Museum of Ethnology is closed on Mondays).
 
Drive back to Hanoi to enjoy cyclo riding around the Old French Quarters. Then, take a guided walking tour to walk along the 36 old streets for insights into the Hanoian’s ordinary life.
 
This evening, transfer to Hanoi Children Palace which is designed for children to practice performed & visual arts and foreign languages after school.
 
There are opportunities to see the local facilities, observe the training in action and share dreams of new generation.

Day 3: Day Trip to Water Puppet Village and To He Village

This morning, meet with 4U Tours guide at your hotel and embark on a 45-minute drive passing urbanized areas, Dao Thuc Village still owns its old charm. 
 
Visit puppet workshop and interact with local artisan to learn how he and his family bring this traditional art out to the world as well as how those wooden guys move. Enjoy a private 30-min outdoor water puppet show on the village pond with live traditional orchestra music background accompanied. Admire the puppeteers standing chest-deep in the water to manipulate puppets.
 
Enjoy lunch at a local family’s house.
 
This afternoon, drive 01 hour through lush countryside to Xuan La “To he” Village. You will learn about traditional craft to make children’s toys in existence for more than two hundred years. Material to make children's toys is simply a little rice-powder colored in red, yellow, black and brown.
 
Upon arrival, meet a well-known artisan and witness the full process of making “To he”.  Curious tourists are welcomed to try and make their own creations.
 
There is also time to wander around the village to admire the old architecture before driving back to Hanoi.

Day 4: Hanoi – Ha Long Bay

In the early morning, guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel and depart from Hanoi to Halong Bay by road through rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalos and Vietnamese village’s daily life on both side of the highway No.18.
 
Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a popular travel destination. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes. Halong Bay is a center of a larger zone which includes Bai Tu Long Bay to the northeast, and Cat Ba islands to the southwest. These larger zones share similar geologicalgeographicalgeomorphological, climate, and cultural characters.

Embark on Legend Halong Cruise and enjoy a welcome cocktail. Savor a delicious fusion lunch as Legend Halong heads to Vung Ha beach.
 
You can join one of the following optional activities: kayak or swim near the beach.
 
The vessel cruises back through the bay to its overnight anchorage near Cong Do. Join in Vietnamese cooking demonstration on the Sundeck (if the weather permits).
 
Candlelit set-menu dinner is prepared in the restaurant or on sundeck if the weather is nice. Retire to your cabin or join our staff at the reception for squid fishing.

Day 5: Ha Long – Hanoi – Fly to Danang – Hoi An

Enjoy the fresh air on the Sundeck to start your day while complimentary tea & coffee are served.
 
Light breakfast. Legend Halong weighs anchor to cruise through the Bay passing beautiful seascapes. Visit Vung Vieng Fishing Village by local rowing boat (01 hour) then return to the vessel.
 
Brunch is served onboard. The vessel cruises leisurely back to harbor and the boat anchors at the pier in Tuan Chau Marina.
 
Drive back to Hanoi. Transfer to Hanoi airport for your flight to Danang
 
Domestic flight Hanoi – Danang is on Vietnam Airlines (economy class).

Day 6: Hoi An Walking Tour and Buffalo Cart & Farming Life Tour

Meet 4U Tours’ guide at your hotel lobby and enjoy the guided walking tour through Hoi An Ancient Town.
 
Visit Phung Hung Ancient House, which used to be a shop-house of the formers merchants as well as a city house of special value built in the middle of the 19th century; Museum of Hoi An, a harmonious cultures combination of Vietnam, Japan & China; Kwan Kung Temple.
 
Continue to visit Japanese Covered Bridge, which was built in the 16th century, consisting a Japanese pagoda to protect the sailors on the northern side, the statues of two dogs at the western end, and two monkeys at the eastern end; Hoi An Market, and Workshop of Traditional Handicrafts
 
End of the tour at a Lantern Workshop, the most famous lantern workshop in the town. Under instruction of the artisans, try to make a lantern yourselves and bring it home.
 
Lunch is served at Ancient Faifo Restaurant, which is set in an ancient house that once inhabited and inspired two generations of prominent Hoi An artisans.The restaurant offers sensational Vietnamese cuisine in a delightful presentation. Combining elements of art, music and history, it is an ideal choice for dining or just sipping a cocktail.
 
This afternoon, drive to discover Hoi An countryside by a fun buffalo cart ride passing by rice paddies and vegetable farms at Cam Thanh Village.
 
Your guide will explain the methods of farming in the area and the produce grown before getting your hands dirty and venturing into the rice fields – you may like to borrow the farmers’ clothing provided by the villagers. Join the friendly farmers to learn the traditional farming methods including ploughing, ranking soil, transplanting rice and scooping water.
 
 Sip a cup of tea with the farmers before returning to your hotel.

This day is free at leisure to enjoy the beach or facilities at your hotel.

Day 8: Hoi An – Hue

 After breakfast, drive 2.5 hours to Hue over the scenic Hai Van Pass – meaning Pass of the Ocean Clouds – which boasts a spectacular panoramic view of the central coastline from the summit.
 
Enjoy lunch at Ancient Hue Restaurant. This fine restaurant is a collection of original Hue ancient royal houses.  The decors evokes authentic ambiance of a Royal Palace. Delicate sweet and spicy flavors and an abundance of fresh produce and seafood characterize Hue cuisine; Ancient Hue showcases the best authentic dishes from the region, as well as a wide range of innovative fusion cuisine.
 
Hue was used to be served as an imperial capital to the Nguyen Lords from the 17th to the 19th century. With splendid emperors’ tombs, ancient pagodas and the remains of the Citadel, the city retains its royal charm.
 
In the afternoon, visit the Citadel Complex of Hue, set up by Nguyen Dynasty from 1805 to 1945, is now one amongst the relics of the Hue Ancient Capital – the World Cultural Heritage, capturing much of tourists’ attention. They are Hue Capital Citadel, Royal Citadel and Forbidden Citadel.
 
Continue to Thien Mu Pagoda, which is considered as the symbol of Hue.
 
Drive back to your hotel after tour and diner is on your own.

Day 9: Private Cooking Class and Visit to Royal Tombs

This morning, you will step out and explore the delicious world of Hue food with a royal gastronomy artisan, Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ha. She had an honor to observe the royal cooks prepare the royal menus for the King.  Now, she is one the Vietnamese cook who introduces the Vietnamese cuisine to the world.
 
Start off with a visit to the local market to see the sights and sounds of daily life. You will be guided how to select the freshest products and ingredients necessary for Hue food.
 
Later, you will be transferred to Tinh Gia Vien Restaurant to enjoy the private cooking class with your professional chef. The menu includes the Dance of the Phoenix, Pin-apple Lantern of Assorted Appetizers, and Vietnamese Spring Roll in the form of a peacock. Enjoy your own culinary creation.
 
In the afternoon, visit King Khai Dinh’s Tomb, the last Mausoleum built during the Nguyen Dynasty.  It is perhaps the most beautiful one of all the royal tombs. Situated on one of the Chau Mountains, amidst pine, cassava and sugarcane, King Khai Dinh’s Tomb is surrounded by natural beauty. Its architecture is a blend of East and West.
 
Continue to King Tu Duc's Tomb, which is considered as one of the most beautiful and picturesque and largest works of architecture of Nguyen Dynasty’s royal palaces and tombs.
 
Drive back to your hotel after the tour. Dinner is on your own.

Day 10: Hue – Saigon – Interaction with Local People

This morning, you will be transferred to the airport to take the flight to Saigon.
 
Domestic flight Hue – Saigon is on Vietnam Airlines (economy class).
 
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your private English speaking guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in.
 
At 5:00PM, the guide will meet your family at your hotel and transfer to an English Center for local children where you can join a class of local children and try to interact with them in English.
 
Continue the visit with Truc Mai House where you will be welcomed with a cup of tea. You are at the home of Mrs. Tuyet Mai and Mr. Dinh Linh, who have both studied at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. They are long time experts of traditional music and have been representatives of Vietnam performing in countries around the world. In that small house, one can see over 20 types of musical instruments, including popular traditional ones like Dan Tranh (16-chord zither), Tam Thap Luc (36-chord zither), Kongput, T’rung, Bamboo Flute and others.
 
Besides enjoying traditional music works played by the two artists, visitors can ask anything about the origin and the characteristics of each instrument in a warm and close atmosphere.
 
Dinner is served at Temple Club Restaurant. With an interior resembling an ancient temple, this atmospheric eatery is decorated with original wood and masonry, and dotted with Buddha statues, rich tapestries and antique throws. The extensive menu is an excellent introduction to authentic Vietnamese cuisine with a fine wine selection to match.

Day 11: Saigon Full Day City Tour & A O Show

Saigon is the country’s commercial center and, with over eight million inhabitants and four million motorbikes, a city that never sleeps. Despite the well-documented hustle and bustle, Saigon retains its connections with the past.
 
This morning, drive to visit Reunification Conference Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral, and General Post Office.
 
Reunification Conference Hall (the former Presidential Palace), was built on the site of the former Norodom Palace. It was designed by architect Ngo Viet Thu and was the home and workplace of the President of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
 
Notre Dame Cathedral, a red brick edifice with twin spires based on the original construction from Paris.
 
Central Post Office, designed by the French architect, Gustav Eiffel, before he had risen to fame for the Eiffel Tower.
 
Enjoy your lunch with Pho, Vietnamese beef noodle, at Pho Hoa, the most famous Pho restaurant in town.
 
This afternoon, drive to visit Chinatown with Binh Tay Market.
 
Chinatown (Cho Lon) is an interesting place to see classical Chinese architecture reminiscent of years gone by with plenty of Chinese restaurants. It is also a place of great historical and cultural importance. Chinese minorities hid here from the Tay Son and subsequently had to rebuild the area twice following attack. Those who survived settled and began selling a variety of Chinese products.
 
Then take a cyclo ride to Thien Hau Temple (the Temple of the Lady Thien Hau), a Chinese style temple located on Nguyen Trai Street in the Chinatown. It is dedicated to Thien Hau, the Lady of the Sea. Thien Hau is worshipped in the seafaring Chinese communities of Fujian, Guangzhou, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. She is not specifically a deity of Taoism or Buddhism, though she has been brought into connection with figures and themes from Taoism and Buddhism.
 
In the evening, enjoy A O Show, a combination of arts highlighting the peaceful country life and poetic scenery of Vietnam is currently scheduled in Saigon. “A O Show” is special in the way it contains episodes of Vietnamese traditional folk games, dances and circus acts performed against the background of traditional and modern music combined with artistic lighting. Bamboo pipes and baskets are used throughout the performance as set decorations and traditional daily activities of villagers and festive celebrations are demonstrated by performers and musicians in farmers’ clothing.

Day 12: Day Trip Excursion to Mekong Delta

After breakfast at your hotel, depart Saigon for a 2-hour drive to the southwest to Cai Lay.
 
Along the way, notice lush rice paddies and fruit farms emerging alongside the highway.
 
Upon arrival, board a charming wooden boat to enjoy countryside scenery and river life. Then gently stretch your legs a bit and hop on a bicycle for a short ride of approximately 7kms (over easy, level terrain) along narrow village lanes, past fruit orchards and local cottage industries. Locals will often greet you with a hello or “xinchao” as you pedal by.
 
Arrive at the home of a tropical fruit farmer and have a walk around his orchard. Enjoy the opportunity to taste fresh fruits. Then relax while enjoying the view from a small sampan boat as you are paddled slowly along tropical canals. Disembark and continue your ride through this Mekong village to a local home for a home-hosted lunch of Mekong Delta specialties. After lunch, a short walk takes you back to the car and your return trip to Saigon.
