Vietnamese legislators expected to approve one-year visa for US visitors

Vietnam's National Assembly is expected to pass a new rule that will extend the validity of temporary visas for US visitors to one year, instead of the current three months.
The newly-elected President Tran Dai Quang proposed the change when speaking to legislators on Monday morning.
He said the US had sought the Vietnamese government’s approval for the extension, adding that short stays of three months had caused many difficulties to US visitors.
The US grants one-year visas to visitors from Vietnam.
Tong Thi Phong, vice chairwoman of the National Assembly, was quoted as saying that the proposal is supported by legislators.
The National Assembly will official vote on it on April 9, local media reported.
