Ho Chi Minh City bans traffic on two downtown street sections during March 30-May 6

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has announced a ban on traffic on two street sections in District 1 from March 30 to May 6, 2015.

The ban is aimed at ensuring safety and security for the construction of a stand that will serve a ceremony to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Reunification Day (April 30), the department said.

Accordingly, vehicles of all kinds are banned from travel on a section of Pasteur Street, running from Han Thuyen Street to Alexandre de Rhodes Street; and a section of Le Duan Street, running from Pham Ngoc Thach Street to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street.

The department has also arranged new routes to replace the banned sections during the period.

Accordingly, in order to avoid the banned Pasteur section, drivers can use the following two routes.

The first route starts from Pasteur Street and travels along Ly Tu Trong, Hai Ba Trung, Le Duan, Pham Ngoc Thach, and to Quoc Te Square before ending on Pasteur again.

The second runs from Pasteur to Han Thuyen then to the Paris Commune Square, and Pham Ngoc Thach and Alexandre de Rhodes Streets before reaching Pasteur again.

In order to avoid the banned Le Duan section, there are two alternatives.

Route 1 covers such streets as Le Duan, Pham Ngoc Thach, Alexandre de Rhodes, and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia; and Route 2 runs through Le Duan to the Paris Commune Square.

For vehicles wanting to travel from Nam Ky Khoi Nghia to Pham Ngoc Thach Streets, the two following routes can be used.

Route 1: from Nam Ky Khoi Nghia through Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Pham Ngoc Thach to Le Duan; Route 2: from Nam Ky Khoi Nghia through Han Thuyen and the Paris Commune Square to Le Duan.

Meanwhile, one-way traffic will be arranged on a section of Han Thuyen, running from Pasteur to the Paris Commune Square, for vehicles to travel from Pasteur to the square.

In addition, vehicles are prohibited from stopping or parking on Han Thuyen and Alexandre de Rhodes Streets from March 3 to May 5, the department said.
