200-year-old artifacts discovered in Vietnam

According to the family members of Dang Trung Quyet, 31, the items were found around one meter under the ground in Nghe An Province during the construction of his house.

There were 69 dishes and bowls featuring patterns and shapes, all enameled carefully. Some even have carved Han-Nom writings.

“Han” is the ancient Chinese script while “Nom” is the Chinese-transcribed Vietnamese hieroglyph.

“During the digging work, some artifacts were broken due to carelessness,” Quyet said.

Some elders in the region said that the items might date back 200 years and belong to ordinary people rather than any royal family.

Many curious residents, including antiquarians, have come to see and asked to buy the artifacts, while Quyet and his wife have not made any decision yet.
